The Black Leopard “Giza”:
Laikipia Wilderness has become famous for its super rare black leopard, and photographers visit from all over the world to capture photos of these extremely rare melanistic cats.
Rare and Endangered Species: This biome is a strong refuge for specialized northern species you won’t easily find in southern Kenya, including the endangered Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and thriving packs of African wild dogs.
On-Foot Adventures: Because it is a private wilderness area, you aren’t confined to a vehicle. You can embark on guided walking safaris, track lions with researchers, go rock scrambling up ancient kopjes, or try river rafting.
Night Game Drives: When the sun dips, a completely different cast of characters emerges. Spotlights reveal elusive, nocturnal species like striped hyenas, aardwolves, zorillas, and hunting leopards.

Best Time for Wildlife Viewing: June to September and December to February. The peak dry seasons; thin vegetation and dry bush mean wildlife concentrates heavily around waterholes and rivers, making tracking incredibly reliable.
