HIGHLIGHT
Mountain Bongo, Waterfalls, The “Dragon” teeth, Lots of elephants.
The Iconic Waterfalls: The park is home to some of the highest and most spectacular waterfalls in East Africa. Karuru Falls plunges in three magnificent tiers down 273 meters, while Chania Falls and Gura Falls drop dramatically into deep, forested ravines.
The Mountain Bongo & Rare Wildlife: Deep within the bamboo forests hides the critically endangered Mountain Bongo, a magnificent spiral-horned antelope found almost nowhere else on Earth. The park is also a vital sanctuary for black rhinos, melanistic (black) leopards, serval cats, and massive forest elephants.
Best Time to Visit: The Dry Seasons is the optimum time for exploring and hiking. The roads and steep mountain tracks are firm, clear vistas open up across the moorlands, and wildlife is much easier to track as it thins out from the dense bamboo belts.
