“Red” Elephants, Mzima Springs, Shetani Lava Flow, Rhino Sanctuary, “Man-Easters of Tsavo”
Tsavo East: Characterized by vast, flat, semi-arid savannahs and endless blue horizons, Tsavo East offers an open wilderness experience that feels completely untamed.
The Famous “Red Elephants”: Tsavo East is home to Kenya’s largest elephant herds. They are famous for their brilliant red colour, an illusion created by the animals continuously bathing in the park’s rich, iron-saturated volcanic soil to protect their skin from the sun.
Tsavo West: The Land of Lava and Springs.
In stark contrast to its eastern twin, Tsavo West is a dramatic landscape of rolling green hills, dense acacia woodlands, towering volcanic cones, and crystal-clear mountain springs.
